Nairobi, Kenya, December 11, 2020– Retail chain naivas Supermarket today opened the doors to its newest food market to the public in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. It did this as the anchor tenant at the newly constructed Maiyan Mall located near KCB Bank along Magadi road.
The opening of the new store covering 24,000square feet now puts naivas supermarket’s total stores tally at 69. This is the second naivas outlet in Ongata Rongai. The opening of the new branch takes place during the exciting annual Christmas Campaign ‘kikwetu’ and the start of the most anticipated part of the campaign that is the 12 days of Christmas where over 800 mbuzi’s will be won as from 12th December to 23rd December. Also, daily over 350 shoppers stand a chance to win vouchers worth Kshs. 2000 by presenting their reward cards at the till as they pay for their shopping.
Speaking on the development, Willy Kimani the Chief Commercial Officer naivas, said the new food market is in line with the company’s strategic mission to extend the modern food market design series across all major urban centers. This particular store format is critical to us as it supports key pillars in our sustainability agenda by promoting healthy lifestyles, supporting local economies and indigenous small and medium-sized firms
“We have taken customer feedback and learnings from the first store and applied it to come up with a solution that meets the needs of our customers and we are cautious of the fact that the area is currently underserved and all plans have been made to ensure that stock availability has been taken into account,” said Mr. Kimani.
This being a food market, the key focus will be on fresh.
The opening of the new store comes barely a week after the opening of naivas supermarkets 68th outlet at Ananas Mall in Makongeni, Thika the retailer has defied a pandemic and resiliently opened a total of 10 outlets. Out of the 10 outlets, 9 are food markets and 1 express store. The store in order of their opening is; Kamakis Foodmarket, Kahawa West, Mt. View Foodmarket, Kilimani Foodmarket, Airport View Foodmarket, Kisumu Mega Foodmarket, Waterfront Foodmarket, Lifestyle Foodmarket, and Ananas Foodmarket.
